Church on the Hill: A Landscape Quilt of Faith and Community
Hi friends, I’m Kelly Renay, and I’m truly blessed to share one of my most meaningful projects with you—a quilt I recently created for a small, faith-filled congregation in Devine, Texas. Titled “Church on the Hill,” this landscape quilt now hangs in the fellowship hall of the Devine First United Methodist Church as a beautiful symbol of devotion, hope, and unity.

Why a Landscape Quilt?
Devine, Texas is a quiet town nestled just 25 miles southwest of San Antonio, with a population of under 5,000. Life there is grounded in agriculture, education, and strong faith. Inspired by the town’s wide open skies and peaceful scenery, I designed a landscape quilt that reflects that sense of place—featuring a long, path leading to a white church perched gently on a grassy hill.
Crafted entirely with Confetti Cotton solids, by Riley Blake Designs, the quilt’s rich, solid hues bring the simple yet powerful imagery to life.

Choosing the Message
I knew this quilt needed more than just visual beauty—it needed a message that would uplift and inspire. After prayerful reflection, the phrase “Praise the Lord Always” felt perfectly fitting. It captures a spirit of gratitude and devotion that resonates deeply with the church community and anyone who views the quilt.

A Quilt with Purpose
More than fabric and thread, the Church on the Hill is a heartfelt tribute to faith. It serves not only as a piece of art, but as a reminder of the strength we find in worship and community. Whether seen by a lifelong church member or a first-time visitor, I hope this quilt offers comfort, encouragement, and joy.
