Quilting
Journey
Journey
Some quilts are about softness.
Some are about story.
Converging Paths is about direction.
This 42” square quilt pattern is built on strong vertical and horizontal bars that draw the eye inward, balanced by star elements that radiate outward. It’s structured, graphic, and full of movement... a design where intersections become the focal point.
Strong lines. Clear structure. Bold color. Big impact.
This cover version of the Converging Paths Quilt Pattern pairs crisp construction with vibrant Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons and Dapple Dots, bringing clarity and contrast to every intersecting bar and radiating star. The result is bold, graphic, and beautifully structured.... a 42” square quilt that feels both playful and balanced.
This year marks a historic milestone... the 250th birthday of the United States of America, the Semiquincentennial. In recognition of that moment, Riley Blake Designs released the Independence collection, drawing inspiration from the imagery and symbolism of the American Revolution. The designs reflect early American history with care, pairing meaningful motifs with a palette that feels refined, timeless, and relevant for today’s makers.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been still.
Not the kind of stillness that’s intentional or performative. Just the quiet kind... where you pause long enough to hear your own thoughts and notice what keeps rising to the surface. Dissecting current events. Turning over affirmations proclaimed on social media. Revisiting memories I didn’t invite but welcomed anyway.

Some quilts begin with color, others with a pattern, but this one started with the simple idea of combining two very different batik collections into one playful design. The Porcelains Expressions Batiks from Riley Blake Designs bring soft low-volume tonals that feel calm and versatile, while the Wildflowers Expressions Batiks offer a split personality: cool mauves on one side, warm golds on the other. Together, they create a balanced palette that feels grounded yet full of movement, just right for a project with a little twist.
Sometimes a quilt design stays with you… long before you ever dreamed of quilting. For me, Tactfully Twisted began with a well-loved family quilt, one made by my great-great-grandmother, stitched from simple two-tone solids that have softly faded over time. The block, often called the Capital T, is a classic, that is straightforward and practical.
Our first Beary Bunch blocks of the year are here... just in time to kick off a new season of making.
January brings a little early Valentine spirit with two Beary Bunch Pals who are full of heart... one spreading love, the other adding rosy charm. Together, they’re a sweet duo you’ll want to stitch up and add to your collection right away.
Meet Mr. Beary Valentine. He’s a little dapper, a little sentimental, with charming details... from his bowtie to the tiny-but-mighty red heart he holds. He’s a Valentine-inspired bear with a classic, heartfelt feel.
He wears a fedora-style hat with a two-toned ribbon, a classic bowtie, and holds a single vibrant heart, making him a simple but striking Valentine’s statement. His quiet charm and gentle details make him a delightful addition to any holiday decor, perfect for makers looking to add a Valentine’s centerpiece full of warmth and personality.
Meet Miss Beary Rosey. She is quietly romantic, with sweet details... from the adorable bow perched atop her head to the single rose held in her heart-shaped vase. She’s a Valentine-inspired bear that feels both timeless and tender.
Her soft details and delicate accessories make her a delightful addition to any holiday decor, perfect for makers looking to add a Valentine’s centerpiece full of warmth and charm.
After finishing the first set of project bags for my niece, I couldn’t shake the feeling that she needed one more to round out the collection. Especially since she’s a creative preteen with a growing stash of sketchbooks, pens, and little treasures. So I decided to add one final bag to the Christmas gift trio, something bigger and extra practical for all her artsy adventures.
Gift making season is the perfect excuse to play with color, mix patterns, and sneak in a little extra personality. This year, I made a set of Project Bags 2.0 by ByAnnie for my niece, a creative preteen with a love of all things crafty. These weren’t just any project bags, I wanted them to be bold, colorful, and full of fun surprises.
Every so often, a fabric collection lands in your hands and just gets you. For me, that was Ruby Star Society’s Salutations. Its cheerful, “happy mail” vibes spoke straight to my stationery-and-fabric-loving heart, inspiring a quilt that captures that energy, even on days when all you feel is a little… blah.
Sometimes life feels like… too much. Too many thoughts, too many tabs open in your brain, or just the kind of day when words fail. That’s exactly the mood that inspired my newest quilt pattern: BLAH BLAH BLAH, coming November 7th.
There’s an old quilt that’s been part of my family for as long as I can remember. It was pieced by my great-great-grandmother, made from simple two-tone solids that have faded softly with time. The seams are worn, the fabric is thin in spots, but the pattern.. a classic Capital T Block, still stands strong.
That quilt lived at the foot of my parents’ bed growing up, and I can still picture it there, folded and familiar. It’s one of those heirlooms that quietly sticks with you, reminding you of where your love for making began, long before you realized it.
Every once in a while, a fabric sparks an idea you didn’t even know you were waiting for. That’s what happened when I saw the Splatter Expressions Batiks collection from Riley Blake Designs. I could instantly picture the perfect project for my sister-in-law, who’s a self-proclaimed book dragon.
Fall is just around the corner, and there’s no better way to welcome the season than with a pop of color at your doorstep. The Big Giant Quilted Bow pattern by Lindsey Grace Creates is the perfect project for adding cheerful, handmade flair. For my version, I chose a mix of reds and oranges from the Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons line... warm, vibrant hues that feel just right for autumn.
I’m so honored to share a brand-new fabric collection today, Foundation 2 by Shayla Wolf of Sassafras Lane Designs for Windham Fabrics. It’s a sequel to her debut line, and once again, it’s bursting with bold color, thoughtful neutrals, and hand-drawn details inspired by her architectural background. It’s the kind of collection that makes both my color loving and architectural loving heart very happy.
There’s nothing like a dark, tonal background to make bright colors pop, and the Blackout collection by Riley Blake Designs does exactly that. With its subtle textures of stars, dots, and geometrics, the prints add richness and depth while keeping the focus on bold color. Paired with 16 Confetti Cotton solids in rainbow hues, the fabrics practically asked to be made into something graphic and bold.
