Quilting
Journey
Journey
Have you ever pulled out an older quilt pattern and wondered what it might look like with a completely different fabric collection?
That's exactly where this project began.
First Bloom was the seventh quilt pattern I designed. Since then, I've released twenty-one more patterns, and like most designers, I've learned something from every single one.
One of the most challenging and rewarding parts of designing a new quilt pattern is selecting the fabrics for the cover quilt.
It's the first version everyone sees, so I want it to introduce the pattern while also feeling true to my own design style.
For Supercolossal, I kept coming back to one idea... bold contrast.
Have you ever looked at a traditional quilt block and wondered, "What would happen if I made it...really big?"
That's exactly how Supercolossal began.
I've always loved the traditional pineapple block. There's something so satisfying about watching those strips build outward from the center. Most pineapple blocks are much smaller, though, and they're often foundation paper pieced.
Independence Day has a way of feeling both celebratory and nostalgic.
Fireworks light up the night sky, American flags wave in the summer breeze, and familiar traditions bring family, friends, and communities together year after year. It's a holiday filled with history, pride, and memories that often become some of our most cherished moments of summer.
This month's Beary Pals were inspired by those traditions and the timeless symbols that make the season feel special.
Meet Ms Beary Rosslyn. She is a patriotic bear wearing a sweet bonnet adorned with a red and blue ribbon, while proudly holding an American flag.
With her soft vintage-inspired styling and classic Americana palette, Ms Beary Rosslyn celebrates patriotic traditions, summertime memories, and the timeless beauty of the American flag through the heartfelt charm of the Beary Bunch Block Series.
Meet Sir Beary Liberty. He is a patriotic bear dressed in a red-and-white striped top hat and proudly holding a historic document inspired by the Declaration of Independence.
With his distinguished beard, bold bowtie, and classic Americana color palette, Sir Beary Liberty celebrates history, tradition, and the joyful spirit of summertime festivities through the playful charm of the Beary Bunch Block Series.
There’s something about wedding season that feels light, airy and full of hopeful anticipation.
The flowers bloom a little brighter, love stories step into the spotlight, and ordinary moments suddenly become unforgettable. This month’s Beary Pals were inspired by that exact feeling... the nerves, excitement, and joy that surround a wedding day.
Meet Mr Beary Bliss. He’s dapper, thoughtful, and trying his best to keep his nerves in check… from the top hat perched neatly atop his head, to the ring box he holds close with that showstopper diamond ring.
He’s a wedding-inspired bear with a nervously romantic spirit.
He feels like that moment… standing at the front of the aisle, taking a deep breath while waiting for the bride to appear.
Meet Mrs Beary True-Bliss. She’s a blushing bride, radiant with joy… from the bow-and-veil perched atop her head, to the single rose she holds with her something blue in hand.
She’s a wedding-inspired bear with a tender, romantic spirit.
She feels like that moment… when the music, “Canon in D” by Pachelbel, starts playing for her to begin walking down the aisle.
I have a soft spot for Halloween quilts that feel more sweet than spooky, and this one makes me grin every time I see that little mummy popping in to say boo.
This Dashing Duo lap quilt finishes at 41” x 45.5” and was made with the playful Frank and Friends collection from Riley Blake Designs. The mix of pumpkins, ghosts, haunted houses, spiderwebs, and those harlequin prints had me at hello.
There’s something about this time of year that calls for a little more color, a little more music, and a good reason to celebrate... even if it’s something small.
This month’s Beary Bunch Pals are rooted in the spirit of Fiesta San Antonio... but more than that, they’re inspired by those everyday moments that feel just a little brighter. A song playing in the background, something cold in your hand, and a reason to pause and enjoy it.
Meet Ms Beary Marita. She’s a little sassy and ready to party... from the flower crown perched on her head, to the margarita she raises, to her happy heart feet. She’s a fiesta-inspired bear with a celebratory spirit and just the right amount of attitude.
She’s not waiting for a special occasion… she is the occasion.
Meet Sir Beary Hugo. He’s full of energy and always ready to strike up a tune... from the bold sombrero perched on his head to the guitar he holds mid-strum. With his signature mustache and expressive face, Hugo brings rhythm, charm, and just a touch of showmanship.
He doesn’t wait for the party to start… he starts it.
The March Pals have arrived in the Beary Bunch Block Series!
This month we’re welcoming two spring-inspired friends, Sir Beary Harey and Miss Beary Limone... a duo ready to bring a cheerful seasonal touch to your growing Beary Bunch lineup.
Some blocks arrive loudly. Others step in gently and win you over with their details.
Miss Beary Limone is the second kind.
With her bow perched sweetly above her head and a tiny baby chick nestled carefully in its cracked eggshell, she carries that quiet, sunny charm that feels just right for early spring. Not flashy. Not fussy. Just thoughtful and full of heart.
There’s a certain kind of joy that shows up when bunny ears land on the cutting table.
Sir Beary Harey hopped into the studio like he knew spring was circled on the calendar. Tall pink ears, bright carrot in hand, and that classic Beary expression... he’s cheerful, playful, and just proud enough of his seasonal style.
Some quilts are about softness.
Some are about story.
Converging Paths is about direction.
This 42” square quilt pattern is built on strong vertical and horizontal bars that draw the eye inward, balanced by star elements that radiate outward. It’s structured, graphic, and full of movement... a design where intersections become the focal point.
Strong lines. Clear structure. Bold color. Big impact.
This cover version of the Converging Paths Quilt Pattern pairs crisp construction with vibrant Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons and Dapple Dots, bringing clarity and contrast to every intersecting bar and radiating star. The result is bold, graphic, and beautifully structured.... a 42” square quilt that feels both playful and balanced.
This year marks a historic milestone... the 250th birthday of the United States of America, the Semiquincentennial. In recognition of that moment, Riley Blake Designs released the Independence collection, drawing inspiration from the imagery and symbolism of the American Revolution. The designs reflect early American history with care, pairing meaningful motifs with a palette that feels refined, timeless, and relevant for today’s makers.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been still.
Not the kind of stillness that’s intentional or performative. Just the quiet kind... where you pause long enough to hear your own thoughts and notice what keeps rising to the surface. Dissecting current events. Turning over affirmations proclaimed on social media. Revisiting memories I didn’t invite but welcomed anyway.
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the February Pals... St. Beary Patrick and Beary O’Cheers!
These blocks build onto the January Pals, sharing festive charm and playful holiday spirit for a cohesive collection.
Together, they continue the Beary Bunch Block Series. Perfect for makers looking to stitch St. Patrick’s Day-inspired bears that brighten any space.
