Hoppy Bunnies Quilt... featuring Ruby Star Society Lofi Linens

What happens when Rashida Coleman-Hale’s headphone wearing Bun E. lands in a quilt filled with 18, or even 36, Hoppy Bunnies?

Apparently, one very happy little bunny takeover.

My Hoppy Bunnies Quilt Pattern was selected to highlight Ruby Star Society’s Lofi Linens collection in Moda’s Piece Issue No. 71 catalog, and when I saw Rashida’s signature Bun E. tucked among the prints, the pairing felt especially fitting.

Hoppy Bunnies was originally inspired by those soft, colorful Easter marshmallow treats, while Lofi Linens brings in an entirely different kind of personality with linen texture, playful geometrics, florals, boom boxes, pops of neon and, yes, a few more bunnies.

It turns out Bun E. fits right in with the bunch.

Meet Lofi Linens

Lofi Linens is not only a new collection from Rashida Coleman-Hale, it also marks the debut of Ruby Star Society’s new linen fabric base.

Made from 85% cotton and 15% linen, the new base brings that classic linen texture into the colorful world of Ruby Star Society. For Lofi Linens, Rashida filled the collection with a playful mix of geometrics, florals and nostalgic motifs, with pops of neon pink and green tucked throughout.

And then there’s Bun E.

Rashida’s signature bunny makes an appearance throughout the collection, sometimes sporting headphones and displaying his different personalities: rocking, focused, napping, pondering and dancing. Those little details make Lofi Linens feel especially at home with Hoppy Bunnies, where each bunny becomes a place to show off a different print.

A Whole Fluffle of Lofi Bunnies

One of the things that makes Hoppy Bunnies so much fun to recolor is seeing what happens when those simple bunny silhouettes are filled with prints instead of solids.

With Lofi Linens, each fat quarter creates two bunnies. Some are covered in tiny florals, others in bold geometrics, and a few even have Bun E. hopping right along with them. The mix of softer neutrals, bright color and unexpected neon gives the quilt a more graphic, energetic look, while the repeated bunny shapes keep it unmistakably Hoppy Bunnies.

That makes a collection like this especially fun to mix and match across the quilt.

Spotted in the Moda Catalog

Ruby Star Society featured not one, but two Hoppy Bunnies versions in Moda’s Piece Issue No. 71 catalog.

The Throw Size finishes at 49" × 62" with 18 bunnies, while the Full Size finishes at 72" × 81" with a whole fluffle of 36 bunnies.

Both sizes are fat quarter friendly, making them a fun way to put a bundle of Lofi Linens to work while giving those individual prints plenty of room to show off.

I especially love seeing both sizes included because they show two different ways to play with the collection. The Throw gives you a smaller group of bunnies and fabrics to work with, while the Full lets the collection really take over with row after row of colorful prints.

A New Bunch of Bunnies

A new fabric collection can give a familiar quilt pattern a completely different look, and Lofi Linens does that for Hoppy Bunnies.

Between the linen texture, playful prints, little pops of neon and Bun E. hiding among the bunch, this version feels right at home while still being completely different from the Hoppy Bunnies that came before it.
