Introducing Sir Beary Hugo... from the Beary Bunch Block Series

Meet Sir Beary Hugo. He’s full of energy and always ready to strike up a tune... from the bold sombrero perched on his head to the guitar he holds mid-strum. With his signature mustache and expressive face, Hugo brings rhythm, charm, and just a touch of showmanship.

He doesn’t wait for the party to start… he starts it.

His Story

Hugo is rooted in the spirit of Fiesta San Antonio, but not just the big, once-a-year celebration.

He represents the sound of it all.

In San Antonio, mariachi music is part of the heartbeat... woven into gatherings, celebrations, and those in-between moments where music fills the air and pulls people together.

Hugo lives in that space.

A guitar in hand, music playing somewhere nearby, something to celebrate... even if it’s small.

Design Notes from the Studio

Sir Beary Hugo features elements from the original Beary Bunch quilt, the Love Bear face, paired with the Original Bear feet, bringing a familiar foundation while giving him his own personality.

The mustache was the turning point. It adds character, a little confidence, and just enough personality to shift him into that performer role.

His guitar introduces movement, while the sombrero frames everything and gives space to play with bold color and contrast.

Sewing Thoughts

The personality in this block really comes through in the smaller details, especially the mustache.

Taking a little extra care with those stitch-and-flip corners will keep the shape clean and readable. It’s a small element, but it makes a big impact on his expression.
