Introducing Ms Beary Marita... from the Beary Bunch Block Series
Meet Ms Beary Marita. She’s a little sassy and ready to party... from the flower crown perched on her head, to the margarita she raises, to her happy heart feet. She’s a fiesta-inspired bear with a celebratory spirit and just the right amount of attitude.
She’s not waiting for a special occasion… she is the occasion.

Her Story
Ms Beary Marita carries a little piece of my hometown with her.
Her flower crown is inspired by the vibrant crowns you’ll see all across San Antonio during Fiesta San Antonio... a citywide celebration filled with color, music, and community.
What started as the Battle of Flowers in 1891 has grown into something much bigger, a “party with a purpose,” where celebration and giving back go hand in hand. And those flower crowns? They’ve become part of the story. Bright, bold, and full of personality, often made from colorful paper.
That spirit is stitched right into Marita.
Her crown feels joyful and expressive. Her margarita is raised in celebration and together, she becomes a reminder that creativity can be meaningful, vibrant, and worth celebrating… even in the smallest moments.

Design Notes from the Studio
Ms Beary Marita features elements from the original Beary Bunch quilt, the Original Bear face and the Love Bear feet, keeping her rooted in the series while letting her personality shine.
The floral crown was designed to feel full and layered, inspired by those handmade Fiesta crowns. Bright, dimensional, and slightly playful in how the colors come together.
Her margarita adds that final storytelling detail, simple, recognizable, and full of character without overcomplicating the block.

Marita’s palette is bright, fresh, and sun-soaked... brought together with Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cotton solids.

Sewing Thoughts
The flower crown is where you’ll want to slow down just a bit.
With multiple stitch-and-flip pieces working together, paying close attention to placement and piecing order will help each shape stay crisp and distinct. Taking your time here really lets those flowers shine.
