Introducing Beary Wish... from the Beary Bunch Block Series

Once a year, there’s a tiny bit of birthday magic in the moment just before the candle goes out... the deep breath, the secret wish, and everyone waiting to see if you can blow out the flame in one try.

Beary Wish is ready for that very moment.

Wearing a festive party hat and holding a cupcake topped with one glowing candle, this birthday pal is here to celebrate the wishes we make, the people we gather around, and, of course, the cupcake. Because even a Beary Bunch birthday should come with something sweet.

One Sweet Birthday Wish

Beary Wish is August’s addition to the Beary Bunch Block Series. This birthday bear can celebrate anyone special... or serve as a cheerful little reminder that every trip around the sun deserves a bit of fanfare.

The finished block measures 20" × 35", making it a fun wall hanging for birthdays, sewing rooms, or any spot that could use a year-round reason to celebrate.

A Confetti Cotton Color Celebration

For this version, I used Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons in a bright mix of party-ready colors. The rich Cobalt background makes the entire bear pop, while Chestnut and Maple give Beary Wish a warm, cozy look.

The party hat brings the celebration with Riley Lime and a fluffy Tangerine pom-pom. The cupcake combines Sunshine cake, Cotton icing, and a striped liner made with Frosting and Pretty in Pink. A Breeze and Seaglass candle stands tall on top, finished with a tiny Ducky flame just waiting to be blown out.

Beary Wish is traditionally pieced using half-rectangle triangles and the stitch-and-flip method. The playful details make the block feel extra special, while the step-by-step instructions keep the project approachable for confident beginners and enjoyable for experienced makers, too.
