What is the Dashing Duo Quilt Pattern?

The Dashing Duo Quilt Pattern is a visually appealing design with pre-cut fabrics exclusively in mind. Along with being pre-cut friendly, the pattern offers five size options ranging from Lap to King. Whether you're looking to make a cozy lap quilt or a statement piece for your bedroom, this pattern has you covered.

Making it perfect for quilters of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned pros. While beginners will appreciate the clear instructions and step-by-step guidance, more experienced quilters can have fun experimenting with color placement and variations, by selecting one of the two different methods; mix and match or swapping.

For this cover quilt, I used the mix and match method.

Why I choose solids?

Even though I have charm packs and layer cakes stashed away, for the cover quilt I wanted a modern appearance where you could see the dynamic movement of the simplistic rectangular shapes.

So, I selected the vibrant layer cake bundle in solids by Robert Kaufman Fabrics, Kona Cotton Solids in Summer Days. This cheerful collections color palette reminded me of a sunset at the beach.

How to best mix and match?

When mix and matching the pieces for the Dashing Duo Quilt Pattern. I found it helpful to divide the amount of pieces needed for a certain step by the amount of designs/colors I was using. Then layout half the amount per design/color on a table, making the mix and matching process more manageable and evenly sorted.

Then, when I got to the steps that used the 5” square pieces, I tried my best to alternate the designs/colors per column.

Friendly reminder, don’t be afraid to mix and match designs/colors to create a unique and eye-catching quilt that reflects your personal style.
