Nothin' Like Texas... the cover quilt
Howdy, y’all! Are you ready to celebrate Texas Independence Day in style? Well, do I have a treat for you! Look no farther than the big and bright tribute to the Lone Star State with my newest quilt pattern, Nothin’ Like Texas.
This cover quilt celebrates Texas (San Antonio at Fiesta time) and stars at night, with vibrant and festive colors. The bright bold colors bring a touch of Texan spirit, along with my personality.
What makes the Nothin’ Like Texas quilt special?
The Nothin’ Like Texas Quilt Pattern is a true homage to the Lone Star State, with it’s intricate design showcasing Texans pride.
To capture the essence of the iconic Texas flag, the states shape is broken into three sections. Allowing for the versatility of using pre-cut friendly fabrics like fat-eighths and fat-quarters.
This cover quilt is the large throw / full, fat-quarter friendly version, meaning you can easily use fat-quarters you have in your stash to create this beautiful quilt. Or get some new fabric too!
By using the mix and match method, you can have fun playing with different color combinations and arrangements. Giving you the freedom to customize the quilt to your liking.
Why I choose Moda Bella Solids and Ruby Star Society Starry fabric?
To capture the essence of a Texas starry night, I selected the background fabric first. The Ruby Star Society, Starry fabric in Blue Ribbon was the perfect choice to represent our wide open starry skies.
Then, I came across the most beautiful rainbow plaid, by Me & My Sister Designs for Moda Fabrics; Fiesta Collection. Which brought my version to life splendidly and was going to make a superb backing fabric. Plus, I’m a sucker for a good plaid.
After having those two main fabrics selected, I began choosing the fabrics for the Texas states shape. I chose Moda Bella Solids because both of the other fabrics are also manufactured for Moda and the fact that Bella Solids come in a wide array of colors.
With the multi plaid backing fabric laid out, I started selecting the Bella Solids that best matched the gorgeous colors. Below is a picture of the colors I selected.
