Are you a candy lover with a passion for quilting? Well, I've got a treat for you! My newest quilt pattern, Yum Yum Candy, is now available. It might not satisfy your sweet tooth, but it will add a pop of color to your home. So grab a bag of your favorite candies, because it's time to share all the details behind the Yum Yum Candy cover quilt.
You can have fun selecting candy themed fabric or go the classic route with some bold polka dots or use solids for a modern appearance.
I decided to use a variety of Ruby Star Society fabrics, that all included dots. The candy fabrics are all from the Sugar Collection by Sarah Watts of RSS. I'm beyond obsessed with the Sugar Collection! I've already used it on 4 quilts and have it planned for 3 more. So, I think it's fabulous and a great basic to add to your fabric stash.
Anywho! Now back to the
Yum Yum Candy quilt pattern details. This fun and playful quilt pattern was created during a sweet tooth attack when I had a craving for a classic fruity hard candy. My favorites are butterscotch or cherry.
I began by sketching in my graph paper notebook and out came this delightful, candy wrapper themed design with 5 different candy blocks.
Along with the common basic quilting knowledge of piecing and use of a 1/4" seam allowance, the blocks involve the 4 at a time Flying Geese no waste method and the stitch-and-flip technique.
The pattern is also fat-quarter friendly as it requires 7 different FQ fabrics for the colorful parts of the candy blocks.
For the backing fabric I went with another Ruby Star Society fabric, from the Darlings 2 Collection.
When it came time for selecting the edge-to-edge long-arm design, I wanted something loopy or swirly, so I decided on Loophole by Sarah Ann Myers via Urban Elementz.
I can't wait to see your delightfully sweet Yum Yum Candy quilts!
Please share your progress with me over on social media or via email, I really enjoy seeing your amazing work.
