Oh the Possibilities Quilt... the cover quilt
As soon as I saw Alison Glass’s new Rainbow Stitched fabric from her newly released Art Theory Collection, I knew that would be the backing for my Oh the Possibilities Quilt. It had been listed for presale so I quickly put in my order for 5 yards. Fabric ordered from Alison Glass.
Then came the hard part! How do I match solids to a backing I don’t have my hands on yet? I knew Alison Glass offered solids through Andover Fabrics, but those colors weren’t speaking to me. So, I took a gamble and grabbed my Michael Miller Cotton Couture swatch booklet. I began pulling colors as closely as I could match to the on screen image of the Rainbow Stitched fabric in the ‘Day’ color way.
My final selection was Fuchsia, Lava, Orange, Acid, Turquoise, Crocus and Soft White in Michael Miller Cotton Couture solids. I thought those colors created a lovely rainbow. Fabric ordered from Hawthorne Supply Co.
Now, I had to wait patiently for the Art Theory Collection to be released! It felt like the longest time ever. I wanted so badly to piece together the quilt top, but I pushed myself to wait, so I could get some lovely shots of the fabrics all together.
Yay, the wait is finally over, cutting can commence!
Trimming out this quilt can feel like an eternity. But, it does sews together rather quickly.
It comes together so quick that this quilt top could be pieced within a weekend. Mine took me 10 hours, and I’m not a fast sewer.
Due to waiting for the Rainbow Stitched fabric and the pattern release date I haven’t gotten the quilt top quilted yet, but I’ll be sharing it as soon as it’s complete.
