Send with Love Quilt Pattern... the cover quilt

Around this time last year, I had my mind set on designing a heart themed quilt pattern. I began sketching ideas in my graph paper sketch book and eventually out came this idea that I am thrilled to share with you today.

After half a year of development; different color variations, piecing placements and name changes, I finally settled on the design below...

Please let me introduce the Send with Love quilt pattern, which includes a modern and scrappy version! This bold, playful and modern quilt pattern is a fun joyful take on sending heart text messages and spreading likes/love across social media.

The Send with Love quilt pattern makes a large throw size quilt at 62x72", which is the perfect size to snuggle under on the couch binge watching your favorite shows, while scrolling on social media on a cold February night.

If you are a confident beginner quilter this is a great pattern for you. As the Send with Love quilt pattern involves the stitch and flip method. But, if you are a beginner quilter wanting to challenge yourself a little or are an advanced quilter wanting to make something new, this pattern is an awesome one to make.

For the Send with Love cover quilt, I decided to make the modern version with some of my favorite colors by using solid fabrics. I went with the Cotton Couture solids by Michael Miller Fabrics in the following SKU's:

  • SC5333-MAGE-D
  • SC5333-LIPS-D
  • SC5333-BWHT-D
  • SC5333-SPAX-D
  • SC5333-BLAC-D

Then, for the backing fabric I wanted a black and white design. So I went with an Alli K Design floral (11521 11) for Moda Fabrics.

Lastly, came one of my favorite steps of the quilt making process; the selection of the edge-to-edge long-arm quilting pantograph. After selecting several designs I decided to use the pantograph "Good Vibrations #2" by Patricia E. Ritter via Urban Elementz. Which was quilted by my favorite local quilt shop, Sew Special Quilts. I selected ‘Good Vibration” because it reminded me of the waves a screen makes when you’ve been looking at it for too long.

Since I used black and white solids on the front of the quilt, it was a little bit of a challenge selecting a thread color that balanced across those contrasting colors. Luckily, I found a great color that blended in and stood out in all the right places. That color is “Pomegranate” by Fil-Tec Glide, SKU 77402.

I hope this new pattern inspires you to make your own version, modern or scrappy. And, that your Send with Love quilt makes you as happy as mine does me! XOXO
