Introducing Mr. Beary Valentine… from the Beary Bunch Block Series
Meet Mr. Beary Valentine. He’s a little dapper, a little sentimental, with charming details... from his bowtie to the tiny-but-mighty red heart he holds. He’s a Valentine-inspired bear with a classic, heartfelt feel.
He wears a fedora-style hat with a two-toned ribbon, a classic bowtie, and holds a single vibrant heart, making him a simple but striking Valentine’s statement. His quiet charm and gentle details make him a delightful addition to any holiday decor, perfect for makers looking to add a Valentine’s centerpiece full of warmth and personality.
The block uses traditional piecing and the stitch-and-flip method, making it approachable for confident beginners and enjoyable for experienced makers alike.

Design Notes from the Studio
When designing Mr. Beary Valentine, my focus was on representing a Valentine-inspired bear with timeless details. Holding a single heart makes him simple yet expressive, and the combination of his bowtie and two-toned fedora ribbon gives him a dapper, classic feel.
By combining features from the first Beary Bunch quilt, the Love Bear Face and Original Bear Feet, this block maintains cohesion with the series while highlighting his own unique charm.

Color Notes: Confetti Cotton Solids
For Mr. Beary Valentine, I reached for Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cotton Solids, warm, classic shades that highlight his dapper and sentimental style. Here’s the exact palette used for this block:
- Nutmeg – Bear Fabric
- Cinnamon – Bear Highlight Fabric
- Sand Dollar – Background Fabric
- Carbon – Accent A Fabric (his hat and bowtie)
- Tractor Red – Accent B Fabric (hat ribbon and the heart he’s holding)
- Super Pink – Accent C Fabric (hat ribbon)
Nutmeg and Cinnamon give him that timeless teddy bear look, while Tractor Red and Super Pink add personality and just the right amount of Valentine’s flair. Sand Dollar keeps the block grounded, and Carbon adds crisp definition in all the right places.
Changing a single accent color can completely change the mood, giving each maker the chance to add their own voice to the block.

Sewing Thoughts
This block uses the stitch-and-flip method. Pay special attention to the direction of your flips to ensure corners and angles line up correctly. Getting these small pieces in the right orientation ensures that Mr. Beary Valentine’s hat, bowtie, and heart come together smoothly and retain their charming, dapper look.
